Feels great to be back!

You could notice I’ve been out for some months now that was because I was called to service by the government through the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC). This scheme was first put in place after the civil war to encourage national growth, security and peace all over the country in the sense that as a fresh graduate your sent to serve your country wherever you’re been posted to by means of Community Development Service (CDS). You’ll be posted to schools in both rural and urban areas to reachout to the rural/urban dwellers by means of teaching, creating awareness or CDSs depending on the your field of study in order to decrease the rate of illiteracy, sharing in other cultures and thus impacting in their minds the need for peace whether you’re from the North, West, East or South-South we’re one Nigeria.

On camp during orientation

Now, as Godly Corp members we’re seizing this opportunity to spread the gospel of Christ. In our duties for the government we also have our duty as Christians to preach the gospel as Jesus commanded us in Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭GNB

By the divine grace of God I was called up for service this year. I’ve been in and out of orientation camp which lasted for 3wks and I’ve signed up to be a full time missionary meaning my whole 1yr of service the government will be used for missions’ for the service of God. I’m on the mission field by the way, still trying to cope with the activities and the standard of living here. It’s not easy though, leaving a place of luxury for a place where there’s no electricity, very limited mobile network.

I’ll be posting once every month. On my next post I’ll be telling you the history and origin of the missions’ ministry, missions’ objective, vision and on going projects and accomplishments.

I’m not just posting to get conversions on my analytics. I want you to have a visual knowledge on what mission is and the sacrifices made by missionaries.

What’s life worth living if not for God – I said that 🙂

Have you ever heard the saying that you can know something by knowing what it is not? This is the elimination method of inquiry.Presumably you have heard about the trial and error way of doing things!

This is based on pure chance called probability!
PURPOSE in a sense doesn’t work by elimination or probability.

Purpose is an essence, a reason, a cause for something, the quiddity of existence. It is what drives you, what motivates you and the very core basis of your life.

Life is too short to be spent trying to ply different routes in search of the best, it is very short to live without purpose.

…”If a man knows not what harbor he seeks, every wind is the right wind”…

Living without purpose is like sailing without a compass, two things are like to happen : first you will never get to your destination and secondly you will arrive at a place you never intended.

The most important aspect of purpose is this: Nobody can attain purpose without God. In the discovery of God you get to understand that ever thing revolves around Him.

Your passion, talents, skills, intellect, race, status, exposure, experience, aptitude, likes, dislikes are carefully selected by God which he intends them to fit into his eternal plan for one lives.

One may live a hundred years and die with fame, yet he didn’t fulfil purpose because he mistook career for purpose.

What you love doing is not purpose per say but they lead you to the path of discovering the essential.

How to find your purpose

                THE HOW OF PURPOSE

A Major question on purpose is usually How do I discover purpose? In totality, no one is able to know everything about his purpose, rather you can be in a path that either leads you there or not. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life”.

God guides our path to his will for our lives.

1. if you want to discover purpose, do the right thing. Doing the wrong thing in most cases takes us away from what we are to do. For instance, how can you develop passion for healthcare without taking your health classes serious? With the discovery of purpose comes a conscientious decision to do what’s right no matter the situation.

2. Channel your passion, talent and skills to the right thing. This will eventually take you to the purpose. Only people who are busy can discover purpose.

3. The secret purpose lies in your daily agenda. Purpose is never futuristic, it is in the now? What you do now must have a link with how ur future will be.

Live the future you envision today. Don’t wait for that future, act it today.

4. Dedicate yourself and your resources to a cause of service for humanity. This is very important, first we are meant to serve God and then serve men. If what you are is just borne out of selfishness then you are yet to discover purpose. Your purpose must serve your creator and the needs of men.

5. Walk with God and stay focused.

Not What You’d Expect

Text :- Ephesians 3:20 GNB “To him who by means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of:”

The Unexpected package

Have ‭‭you ever prayed and believe God for something… that came eventually but not in the form or package you were expecting? Most times in life God blesses us with things we really need not things we just want.

Peter heals a lame man at the beautiful gate

Take a look at the life of the beggar at the beautiful gate in Acts 3:1-10 GNB. On seeing Peter and John the beggar looked on them with high expectations for what he wanted of them which was money but God who’s all knowing, through the Holy Spirit ministered to the apostles what the beggar really needed which was far more valuable than money because if it were money he needed Peter would just pray and God by some divine intervention provide the money for him that’ll certainly in the long run get exhausted and he’ll return again to the temple to beg. But by the grace of God he was granted a whole new package not what he was expecting – the ability to walk again which was worth more that just change he was expecting.

Let me use my life as an example of receiving something from God in a way that totally beats my very own expectations.

After high school I enrolled for an examination that if you passed you’ll be given an admission to any university of your choice. So after much prayers, commitment to study and with so much expectations I sat for the exam. In the examination hall I sat besides a lad who was engaging in examination malpractice and his tools were legit, I mean, like literally the same with the examination questions. The examination hall was quite free you could do whatever you want and this lad offered to be of assistance to me by sharing his malpractice tools with me    (you could imagine the very tempting scenery) of which I bluntly refused saying to myself “I am a child of God, why would I an accomplice to cheating?” After the examination I waited patiently for the result in faith and with high expectations. The result finally came – oh boy, it was nothing near my expectation I was way way lower than the expected cut-off mark that’d have qualified me for the university of my choice. In fact I lost faith, hope and my life was like a totally trainwreck. I began to doubt the existence of God, I’ll be so angry during prayers, devotions and I’m like I’m I even doing here God’s not real, He doesn’t answer prayers I’m just wasting time here. See the lad who cheated he must have passed splendidly nobody cares how you did it they just wanna see the results. Well, I came to be and I confessed and repented of all the hate and believed God was working in ways I couldn’t see. All this time of having hate for God, denial and regrets I didn’t know God was preparing a whole new package for me in a completely different way not what I’d have expected. That same year I got info about a federal scholarship to study abroad and I applied. I reluctantly went for the examination and I passed, went for an interview – passed, went for medical and other procedures I passed splendidly. Everything was just going smoothly. I studied marine engineering at the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport. Today I’m a marine engineer STCW ’78 certified. Now my unexpected package was this, God so elevated me amongst my peers and those who saw me as a failure. He took me to a height they never imagined to attain. If I had cheated and definitely would have passed that examination I’d have missed out on God’s perfect plans for my life. I’d be happy leaving the good life but not the God-life. It didn’t come the way or at the time I expected.

God doesn’t always do things as we expect Him to. Though we don’t have to look for odd ways to serve Him, He sometimes uses unusual and peculiar methods to do His works. He uses various ways to guide us and confirm His directions for our lives.

I pray that God guide us into the right occupation, opportunities and relationships as we live our everyday lives in Jesus name. Amen!

Have you walked into your favourite restaurant so famished, and with a particular delicacy in mind which can give the hunger a perfect satisfaction, but to your disappointment, your chef tells you it still being prepared, in other words food is not “ready“. Now you’re left with no choice but to wait a little longer or you could simply order something else, “the available“. You are not patient enough to wait, the hunger presses even more it just becomes unbearable, you loose control and fall for the “available” and you say to yourself… well, it’s worth it (settling for less)

This applies to our daily lives, our career, our marriages, our relationship, our Christian life, our family etc. The restaurant (favorite) is the place we get whatever we need in life (God), the food signifies what things we need in life, hunger is the challenges we face that makes us limit our decision and take the available.
We settle for the “available” rather than wait patiently for God’s appointed time to give us what we actually need – the “ready”.

You want that kind of relationship your friend is into now, you want that marriage now, you want that job now, that education now, all my friends are married or are in a relationship now and we want one too, all my mates have graduated, why is mine always different. And then you tend to indulge in whatever available means to satisfy that urge at all cost.

I will tell you why yours is different, God wants you to prepare yourself for what he is preparing for you, he wants you to be “ready” when its “ready” to achieve this he wants you to have patience, faith, prayer and fellowship to wait for the potter to make our vessels ” ready” and perfect. Jeremiah‬ ‭18:1-6‬ ‭GNB‬‬

We want what we see now because it will satisfy our flesh, because it what everyone is doing or has, because the society sees it right to be good, because we think opportunities come but once. So we wanna go get it before we even think twice if that very desire was in accordance to the will of God. After all they say, “Heaven helps those who helped themselves.” when in fact, in this generation heaven actually helps those who cannot help themselves.

We loose guidance, focus, target and begin to wander away in dryness, emptiness, unfulfilled, and dead.

(proverbs 23: 26) “Pay close attention, son, and let my life be your example.”    Proverbs‬ ‭23:26‬ ‭GNB‬‬

Are you ready to give God your heart to guide, are you ready to observe his ways to make the right choices or decisions?

Are you ready to persevere for it to be “ready”, or you will just have the “available”?.

Perseverance is the key to being a faithful Christian. God not giving you what you prayed for immediately doesn’t mean He’s wicked or He doesn’t hear prayers. He’s making you wait to build you so you could be fully grounded in the things of God. He’s got a wide perspective of your yesterday, the now, and your tomorrow. Having this perspective, He knows that if He grants you that request it’ll pull you away from Him, so He’s gonna just make you wait till you’ve learnt to totally depend on Him (Perseverance). Remember He promise to give you an expected end and His words are Ye and Amen.

I urge everyone of us to always persevere in times of lack or in times of expectations. God loves us. He said anything we whisper in his ear, that He’ll do for us. In the same vein he doesn’t want us to get lost in our pursuit for happiness, riches and every other heart desires rather He wants us to wait for the “READY” and not settle for “THE AVAILABLE”.

No wonder‭‭ David said in Psalms‬ ‭37:7‬ ‭GNB, “Be patient and wait for the LORD to act; don’t be worried about those who prosper or those who succeed in their evil plans.”

Persevere and wait until God’s time to grant you your heart desires, don’t be in a hurry to accept the available that often comes with one said problems or the other and they never last.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…  Isaiah 40:31 KJV

I pray God gives you the strength to always wait on Him. God bless you!

(Commit oneself to), (Be committed to)

Def :- Be dedicated to something., resolve to remain in an emotional relationship with someone.

To be committed to something – in this world of confusion, uncertainty and disbelief as Christian we’re to fully ourselves to God, His ways and His word. We cannot continue to live a double standard lifestyle. It’s distasteful to God

It’s either you commit to God or you commit to sin. As the popular saying goes “if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for everything” you can’t stand for what you’re not committed to

Joshua 15:24 says, …then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Now that’s an example of total commitment. You can’t say you’re committed to God when today you’re in this sin, and then you realized and confessed, cool! But the next, you’re back to the same sinful lifestylelike a dog going back to its vomit (Prov 26:11).

You’ll discover that when we commit to God – having a relationship with Him, it becomes evident in our lives, our personal behaviors and our relationships with others. Literally in the world today, unbelievers don’t have to read a bible to get converted. I mean, how could they even understand without the Holyspirit to guide them? They tend to read our lives, find out what we’re committed to, observe how we applied this commitment into our everyday lives. Giving them a thorough understanding of who we really are and what we stand for and then giving them a change of heart to come into repentance and thus giving God the glory.

Every now and then we’re often faced with setbacks, trials and temptations because you chose to lead a godly lifestyle that makes you wish you could just fly away to someplace far from all of these setbacks. It could be at school, amongst peers or even in the home. In the scripture, 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭3:1-7‬ ‭GNB‬‬ studying the life of Paul and the early Christian we got a crystal clear understanding that suffering and setbacks are an inevitable part of a Christian life. All that matters is your attitude towards whatever situation it may be.

Instead of just giving up hope, packing up and flying to your imaginary universe on paper planes ✈️, we should stand our ground and face whatever trials our adversary the devil throws our way. Roar at them because we have hope and believe on the one true and loving father – GOD.

Most times God keeps quiet when we’re faced by these setbacks, not because He hates us or He doesn’t care. He uses every trial and temptations we face to refine you for His glory.

Therefore, as believers (godly youths) whenever we’re faced by trials, setbacks, lack etc. don’t give up on God for He said in His word, Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint“.

So shun every paper plane you think is going to carry you away to someplace far from whatever situation you’re going through. In fact you were made for a time such as that – giving all glory to God for he cares for you. Trust in the Lord and wait on Him.

The Loop of ungodly thoughts

LOOP :- a structure, series, or process, the end of which is connected to the beginning

TEXT :- Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭GNB‬‬
“Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God — what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.”

Basically, in a layman definition, loop could be defined as a series or string of a continuous (never-ending) event(s) one experiences every now and then.

Have you ever sat down or just lay down in bed on a lonely afternoon and then your mind just continuously bring to your remembrance a string of past event sometimes a hurtful relationship, an abuse, perhaps your past life of sin even though you’ve completely recanted those ways. You try to brush such ungodly thoughts aside but it just kept on playing and playing and you felt like if there was a stop button you could push to end all of it and most times we often felt helpless.

The good news is, We’re not helpless at all We actually have the power to overcome such ungodly thoughts. I came across a book – “THE POWER OF YOUR MIND” by Pst. Chris Oyakhilome, president and founder of Believers’ LoveWord Inc. (aka Christ Embassy). In his book, he gave the concept of mind management in accordance with the scripture Rom 12:2, “… be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” in other words, changing your way of thinking, accepting God’s thoughts and opinions, exchanging your ideas for His and Learning to think and talk like him.

And how can one think like God?
By focusing on his word
“God’s words are His thoughts clothed in vocabulary”. – Pst Chris Oyakhilome

To conclude, in order to teach our mind never to partake in ungodly thoughts we have to study his word – the Bible (which are His thoughts) in so doing our minds becomes renewed and this loop of ungodly thoughts shall cease in our lives.
Until next article. Stay blessed
